Los Angeles stopover

We made it to Auckland!

Here we come!

Saying goodbye to Sebastian was hard, but I think he's loving his new home with my grandparents. He was pretty confused at the end, when our apartment was emptying out and he was running out of hidey holes.

Saying goodbye to Sea Bass

We only had 2-3 hours of sleep before our flight to LA, so we weren't much company for my mom and her friend Cindy, who were on the same flight as us to Albuquerque. Eventually we made it to the boat in Marina del Rey.

One of my favorite things about LA is the plethora of vintage cars.  I was very excited to find this Falcon at Elysian Park.

If you find yourself in the LA area, make a trip to the Getty Museum, which has amazing views of the city.

They also have a gorgeous garden with lush plants and flowers.

Sam and I walked around Venice Beach and discovered it got its name from the amazing canals hiding behind the streets.  I filed away a lot of ideas for future home & garden design.

Eventually we said goodbye to our friends and the boat and caught our plane overseas.  More about that later, though.  We're about to head to a car fair to see if we can get ourselves some wheels!

Oh, those flower trees are amazing!

Aren't they cool? They're made from rebar, so they're a nice combination of industrial metal and delicate flowers. I would love to make some for my yard someday.
