Family Reunion, Covington edition

Chameleon yoga

Despite my woeful absence of late, I have not abandoned the blog! This post is extra long to make up for lost time. We just returned to Texas after nearly a month long visit to the east coast. This was my longest visit to Charleston so far, and we had a wonderful time catching up with Sam's family.

Family Reunion

Reunited

Our first week back has been all about family. We arrived home on the same day my brother Jordan arrived home from Germany, where he's been living for the last couple years. Needless to say, my parents were thrilled. Our journey involved 30 hours in 4 airports and 3 airplanes, a 6 hour road trip, and 2 sunrises, but with the time change we arrived on the same "day" we left. It was definitely the longest day of my life.

Brotherly Love

Millers & Covingtons

Yesterday we said goodbye to the Millers, with whom we've been staying on and off for just over two months. This lovely family has taken us in, given us a lot of smiles, and inspired us to pursue cheese making, jam preserving, and beekeeping one of these days.

Harry asked me if the magic of being in New Zealand would fade after being here, but I told him I don't think so. Christchurch isn't too far different from a US city, with sprawling suburbs and landscapes one might see in America. I think our upcoming South Island road trip is going to be epic, and with mountains, penguins, and fiords, the magic will surely be continued, if not amplified.

Happy Birthday, Larbear!

In the wheat field with Larbear and Jordan

Everyone say happy birthday to my dear, sweet dad Larry! He's the best dad in the whole world (don't argue with me; you will lose) and I miss him lots.

I thought I'd take this opportunity to post some of my favorite vintage Larbear photos, plus one of us at my wedding. Thanks for always being there, Dad!
