Family Reunion

Reunited

Our first week back has been all about family. We arrived home on the same day my brother Jordan arrived home from Germany, where he's been living for the last couple years. Needless to say, my parents were thrilled. Our journey involved 30 hours in 4 airports and 3 airplanes, a 6 hour road trip, and 2 sunrises, but with the time change we arrived on the same "day" we left. It was definitely the longest day of my life.

Jordan was only in town for a week, so we made the most of our time with him and visited all of our grandparents. The most emotional visit was with my mother's parents in San Angelo. While we were in town, we visited a local treasure, the water lily park.

My grandmother's facility has an aviary, and it reminded me how much I love finches. Two of my best friends in college raised finches, and I've always love their soft chirps and beautiful colors.

Family dinner

Back in Midland, we met up with some extended family for my early birthday dinner. It was great to have so much family in one place!

One of the people I was looking forward to seeing again is the one who has changed the most in our absence. Hannah, my youngest cousin, lived 40% of her life while we were away, so I couldn't wait to get back to babysitting her. She played the shy card during the family dinner, but I think after a day of playing with her, she has warmed up to me again.

I love my family! This is the best part of coming home.
